Real-time quantification of cells' viability and "smart" adhesive resins with antibacterial, bond-promoting and bioactive properties.
Role Description: The present research proposal specifically responds to the 2016 Oklahoma Health Research Program funding opportunity and is a logical next step in Dr. Florez’s long-term career goal to pursue new strategies to prevent the occurrence of secondary caries. This includes the development of a novel antibacterial adhesive resin with bioactive and bond-promoting properties, and the optimization of a high throughput, non-destructive and real-time bioluminescence assay to assess the metabolic activity of intact oral biofilms.
    Role: Principal Investigator
