Aim 1: Determine whether the increased usage of indirect motor pathways enhances the shift of somatosensory processing towards the contralesional hemisphere when increasing shoulder abduction loading.
Aim 2: Determine whether the shift of somatosensory processing also permits the abnormal involvement of indirect motor pathways in the transcortical stretch reflex that contributes to the hyperactive stretch reflex.
Aim 3: Determine whether non-invasive brain stimulation, either upregulating the excitability of the ipsilesional sensorimotor cortex (Aim 3a) or downregulating the excitability of contralesional sensorimotor cortex (Aim 3b), reduces the shift of somatosensory processing and therefore diminishes movement impairment.
